Ask Your Senators to Consider What's Best for Soybean Farmers

The Senate is debating amendments to the 2013 Farm Bill. In order to see a farm bill signed into law that represents the interests of soybean farmers, we must ensure that amendments to scale back crop insurance, place unscientific regulations on biotech crops, hamper trade or restrict the growth of biodiesel are opposed.

Take action today!

ASA has created a new Soybean Marketing and Production College program to educate producers on how to capitalize on the growing trends and new technologies in agriculture to maximize on-farm profitability. The event takes place in Minneapolis, July 29-30. Growers do not have to be ASA members to participate.

APHIS Decision on 2,4-D, Dicamba-Tolerant Traits an Unnecessary Barrier for Soybean Farmers

Soybean farmers expressed their disappointment with the May 10 announcement that USDA-APHIS will conduct a full environmental impact statement on soybean, corn and cotton crops designed to tolerate the 2,4-D and Dicamba herbicides. The move could delay the introduction of new products containing these herbicide-tolerant traits to the market for an additional two to four years, according to industry sources.

Tell Congress to Oppose President’s Food Aid Plan

ASA is calling on all farmers to urge their senators and representative to oppose a plan advanced by President Barack Obama that would restructure the U.S. food aid system by replacing approximately half of in-kind American foreign aid with cash.

ASA Reinforces Crop Insurance Support, Opposes Means Testing

ASA joined a broad coalition of other farm groups in a letter to Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and Ranking Member Thad Cochran (R. Miss.) reiterating support for strong crop insurance provisions in a new farm bill, and oppositions to certain provisions that would limit its effectiveness, specifically any form of means testing as a qualification for purchase.

Once the equipment is installed, Oryza will begin production of the first high-protein, floating fish feed

to be produced in Pakistan; production will utilize 25 metric tons of U.S. soybean meal imported by ASA/WISHH.
